LAS VEGAS (AP) - A county official says she won’t back Republican Adam Laxalt for Nevada governor because he isn’t endorsing brothel owner Dennis Hof’s campaign for the state Assembly.

Nye County Commissioner Donna Cox says voters in her county clearly chose Hof as the GOP nominee. She’s instead backing independent gubernatorial candidate Ryan Bundy, who helped lead high-profile armed standoffs with U.S. agents.

In an interview on the “Kevin Wall” radio show last week, Laxalt cited Hof’s role in auctioning of a young woman’s virginity as a reason he can’t support him.

Campaign spokesman Parker Briden told The Las Vegas Review-Journal that Laxalt respects the voters but won’t support Hof.

The Nevada Democratic Party criticized Laxalt for not similarly disavowing Storey County Sheriff Gerald Antinoro or Steve Wynn.

Hof, Antinoro and Wynn have been accused of sexual misconduct but deny the allegations.
