MINNEAPOLIS (AP) - Two alleged drug dealers in Minnesota have been charged with murder in connection with two separate overdose deaths in the Twin Cities, according to prosecutors.
A criminal complaint says Gregory Loupe, 38, has been charged with third-degree murder in connection to the death of Maria Dalton, The Star Tribune reported .
One of Dalton’s daughters called police after she found her mother unresponsive on April 7, according to the complaint. Officers found a brown substance containing heroin and fentanyl, as well as numerous pills in the 46-year-old’s bedroom.
Police searched Dalton’s cellphone and found evidence of drug transactions between her and Loupe dating back to last year. One conversation occurred the night before her death.
Authorities searched Loupe’s home and found cocaine, marijuana, a digital scale, a handgun and more than $2,000 in cash.
Eric James Aguilera, 25, has been charged with third-degree murder in connection to a December overdose death. The death was accidental and caused by heroin and cocaine, according to the Hennepin County Medical Examiner.
The unidentified woman’s boyfriend told police that he had purchased heroin from a man known as “Fatty.” Police checked the boyfriend’s phone conversations and were able to identify Aguilera.
The two deaths are unrelated. Loupe and Aguilera remain in Hennepin County Jail on $500,000 bail. Jail records don’t list an attorney for either.
