CHICAGO (AP) - During a second day on the witness stand, a Chicago police officer involved in a 2015 fatal shooting of a teenager and a bystander testified additional training wouldn’t have mattered in the incident.

Under questioning from attorney Brian Gainer, representing the city, Officer Robert Rialmo said 19-year-old Quintonio LeGrier was heading for him before the shooting. Rialmo said Wednesday he had no choice but to shoot LeGrier. Rialmo also shot and killed LeGrier’s neighbor, 55-year-old Bettie Jones.

Rialmo has given conflicting statements on where he was standing when he fired. He testified Wednesday he was on the walkway between the porch and the sidewalk when he fired and that he backpedaled as he shot.

A forensic pathologist has testified LeGrier’s wounds were inconsistent with Rialmo’s claims. A Chicago police disciplinary body has ruled Rialmo was unjustified in the shooting and recommended his firing.
