PORTLAND, Ore. (AP) - Police say three people were hurt when a Ford Mustang involved in a street race crashed into a car that was turning into a parking lot in North Portland.

Portland police Sgt. Chris Burley says the three people in the vehicle hit late Sunday were taken to area hospitals. The occupants of the Mustang were treated at the scene.

Police cited the 21-year-old Mustang driver for reckless driving, careless driving and speed racing.

Burley said street racing is illegal and it has caused several fatal crashes in Portland in recent years.

Those who witnessed this crash or have information about the street racing event are asked to call police at 503-823-3333.
