MONTPELIER, Vt. (AP) - Vermont’s unemployment rate for May remains unchanged from April, at 2.8 percent.
The unemployment rate for Vermont’s 17 labor market ranged from a low of 2 percent in Burlington-South Burlington, to a high of 4.2 percent in Woodstock. Vermont was tied for the fifth lowest statewide unemployment rate. The Burlington-South Burlington metropolitan area had the eighth lowest unemployment rate in the country.
The national rate in April was 3.8 percent.
Vermont Labor Commissioner Lindsay Kurrle said Friday that low unemployment and active recruitment “appears to be motivating individuals across the state to reenter the labor market.”
