JUNEAU, Alaska (AP) - Government figures show Alaska’s May unemployment rate was slightly lower than the prior four months.
The preliminary, seasonally adjusted rate for May stood at 7.2 percent. That compares with 7.3 percent, where the rate had stood the previous four months of 2018.
In May 2017, the Alaska unemployment rate was 7.1 percent. The state labor department says employment last month was down about 2,000 jobs compared with May 2017.
Nationally, the unemployment rate for last month was 3.8 percent.
