LOS ANGELES (AP) - Grants totaling $37.5 million will be used to fund programs aimed at reducing illegal sales of cigarettes and tobacco products to minors in California.
State Attorney General Xavier Becerra announced Tuesday the grants will go to 71 local entities statewide.
The money will fund retailer and law enforcement training programs, installation of signs, tobacco retail license inspections and youth outreach efforts.
The funds come from the California Healthcare, Research and Prevention Tobacco Tax Act approved by voters in November 2016.
