Authorities have lifted evacuation orders for dozens of homes as firefighters work to stamp out a wildfire burning in a wealthy hillside enclave of Los Angeles.
The Fire Department says mandatory evacuation orders for 86 homes in the Benedict Canyon area were lifted at 8 p.m. Tuesday. The blaze is 25 percent contained.
The fire erupted Tuesday afternoon in the canyon, which is flanked by multimillion-dollar homes. Authorities say a power toll being used to clear brush sparked the blaze.
The 35-to 40-acre blaze didn’t burn any homes but two firefighters were treated, one for heat exhaustion and the other for a minor burn.
At its peak, 250 firefighters and several aircraft fought the flames.
The fire isn’t growing but firefighters will work through the night dousing hot spots.

Los Angeles fire officials say a power tool being used to clear brush sparked a wildfire that’s prompted evacuation orders for 86 homes in the wealthy hillside enclave of Benedict Canyon.
Fire Department spokeswoman Margaret Stewart says it’s an important reminder that people using such devices should keep a fire extinguisher nearby when they work.
The fire broke out Tuesday afternoon and has burned 35 to 40 acres of thick brush in the canyon, which is flanked by multimillion-dollar homes. No homes have been damaged.
The fire is 10 percent contained and is showing little growth. About 250 firefighters aided by aircraft are battling the blaze.

A wildfire has erupted in the hills overlooking Los Angeles, prompting some residents to leave their homes in the wealthy Benedict Canyon neighborhood.
About 250 firefighters aided by a retardant-dropping helicopter erupted at about 2:30 p.m. in thick brush. Flames raced up the steep canyon, which is surrounded on all sides by homes that overlook Beverly Hills and West Los Angeles.
Fire officials say they’re making good progress against the 20-acre blaze but mandatory evacuations have been ordered for one street.
Luckily, the wind is slight and the fire is moving slowly.
