OPINION:
President Donald Trump’s forging of a historic peace-making deal with North Korea’s despot Kim Jong-un — formerly known in White House lingo as “little rocket man” — has the leftists of the country up in arms because, to put it bluntly, it’s getting harder and harder for them to sell their hate.
They’re actually having to admit Trump is not half as bad as they tried to paint.
That whole resistance movement is starting to crumble and along with it, the Democratic Party’s main campaign plank — the one that went, “Vote for Us: We’re Not Trump.”
Next thing you know, the only voice crying “impeach!” will be Maxine Waters’. And everybody, even on the left, already knows she’s a nut.
It’s actually becoming a bit of fun to watch the mainstream media members try to scramble for some negatives.
“Morning Joe,” for instance, tweeted this quote from historian Jon Meacham, who was responding on MSNBC to the Trump-Kim deal to forge a new, friendlier and peaceful relationship: “’Just because something hasn’t happened before doesn’t mean it’s historic.’”
And then there was this, from NBC News: “Trump and Kim nuclear summit agreement contains no new promises. … The agreement signed by [Trump and Kim] appeared to contain no new pledges and was padded with vague language that many experts said would be difficult to enforce.”
That was after the anti-Trumpers in the media outright predicted doom and gloom from all-things-Trump-and-Kim. As if simply saying it enough will make it come true.
Just a few days ago, for instance, Vanity Fair ran with this headline: “’A Dog Whistle to the North Koreas’: Will Trump’s Ignorance (and Bolton’s Impetuousness) Doom the North Korea Summit?” Guess again, Vanity Fair.
Fact is: Trump met with Kim. The meeting was historic — the handshake was historic. The doors to diplomacy and further deal-making for friendlier international relations — again, historic.
And now U.S. elections are dawning and the Democratic Party is scrambling to counter all the good Trump news — the tax cuts, the low unemployment numbers, the dwindling food stamp figures, the consumer confidence and corporate dole-outs of bonuses to employees. Add to that this newest diplomatic win against a rogue enemy nation and Trump’s got all the makings of a second term in the works.
Democrats, sadly for them, are simply running out of anti-Trump ammunition.
