NEW YORK (AP) - A 50-year-old New York City man has been indicted in the fatal robbery of an elderly Lehman College professor.
Manhattan prosecutors said Monday that Matthew Lee was charged with murder and robbery in the death of 87-year-old Young Kun Kim, of Manhattan. Information on Lee’s attorney was not immediately available.
Kim died after being knocked to ground during a robbery last month inside a bank vestibule on the Upper West Side. Prosecutors say Kim had just withdrawn $300. During the struggle he fell to the ground hitting his head.
Lee fled the scene but was later captured.
Manhattan District Attorney Cyrus Vance, Jr. said violence against seniors and other vulnerable residents “will be met with the full force of our laws.”
