Just hours after her public mea culpa over her vile use of the “c-word” in describing White House adviser and daughter of the president Ivanka Trump, Samantha Bee struck a defiant note while accepting an award at the 11th annual Television Honors Awards for her TBS show Full Frontal.

CBS News reports Bee gave a speech that suggested she was rather unrepentant for using the slur on her weekly program:

“We spent the day wrestling with the repercussions of one bad word, when we all should have spent the day incensed that as a nation we are wrenching children from their parents.”

Of course, Bee’s diatribe went further than just “one bad word” considering she also disgustingly suggested the president’s daughter was engaged in some weird incestuous relationship with her father, but that point seems lost on the comedian as well as most media observers:

“You know, Ivanka, that’s a beautiful photo of you and your child, but let me just say, one mother to another: Do something about your dad’s immigration practices, you feckless c***! He listens to you! Put on something tight and low-cut and tell your father to f***in’ stop it.”

But the real crux of her self-serving speech clearly suggests that she believes the controversy was overblown and pales in comparison to President Trump’s policies on immigration. She’s indignant over the fact that calling Ivanka Trump a c*** distracted from the super important issue she cares so much about.

This public statement and attitude is in clear contrast to her unequivocal apology she issued when she thought her career was in jeopardy.

“I would like to sincerely apologize to Ivanka Trump and to my viewers for using an expletive on my show to describe her last night.  It was inappropriate and inexcusable. I crossed a line, and I deeply regret it.”

Those words now ring hallow given her attitude just hours later.
