Mark Reynolds’ outstanding hot streak has been rewarded with a National League accolade.

The Washington Nationals’ infielder was named NL Player of the Week on Monday after a week in which he hit three home runs, including a walk-off homer Friday against the Miami Marlins, and 12 RBIs on .625 batting.

It’s the first time Reynolds, 34, won player of the week honors since he played for the Arizona Diamondbacks in 2010.

After knocking out the game-winning solo home run as a pinch-hitter on Friday, he kept the offensive sparks flying on Saturday by going 5-for-5 with two home runs and 10 RBIs.

Reynolds even made his first career appearance on the mound Sunday at the end of Washington’s 10-2 loss, getting the final out of the game against the only batter he faced.

Adam Eaton and Max Scherzer have also won NL Player of the Week this season, making Reynolds the third member of the Nationals to do so in 2018.
