CONCORD, N.H. (AP) - U.S. Sen. Jeanne Shaheen of New Hampshire says her office is hearing of “widespread” computer hacker attempts of political parties and of her fellow Senate colleagues, and her own staff has turned over one matter for authorities to investigate.

Shaheen, a Democrat, appeared on CBS’ “Face the Nation” on Sunday. She responded to the recent confirmation from Democratic Sen. Claire McCaskill of Missouri that Russian hackers unsuccessfully tried to access McCaskill’s Senate computer system. McCaskill’s up for re-election.

Shaheen said people in her own office have been getting phishing emails with social media accounts. A Shaheen spokeswoman said Monday the office is working with authorities to investigate the incidents and determine their origin.
