AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - In a short headline for a July 28 story about a veteran’s fair, The Associated Press erroneously reported the fair’s name. It is the Hire-a-Veteran fair, not the Hit-A-Vet fair.

A corrected version of the story is below:

Maine readies for Hire-a-Veteran fair

Maine says almost 200 employers will participate in a job fair aimed at hiring veterans

AUGUSTA, Maine (AP) - Maine says almost 200 employers will participate in a job fair aimed at hiring veterans.

The annual job fair will take place Aug. 30 at the Augusta Civic Center. Exhibitors include AAA Northern New England, Correct Care Solutions, Irving Forest Products, Poland Spring and state government.

The state is launching a campaign starting Labor Day to have at least 100 employers hire at least 100 veterans and military family members during a 100-day period.

Republican Gov. Paul LePage says veterans’ skills include teamwork, leadership, technology and discipline.

Veterans who are traveling at least 40 miles for an interview or job fair can apply for free overnight accommodations.
