OPINION:
Roseanne Barr, on Sean Hannity’s show on Fox News, admitted she made a “mistake” by tweeting about Valerie Jarrett, and that she was “sorry” and that the message was “ill-worded” and that she “never meant” to cause “hurt.”
And then the real Roseanne came out, and she said this: “Of course I’d tell her, she’s got to get a new haircut.”
Somebody give this lady a TV show. It’s too funny — and Lord knows, America needs to laugh these days.
What’s more interesting than Barr’s tweet at this point is that Barr’s tweet about Jarrett is still news.
Back in May, Barr put this out on Twitter about Jarrett: “muslim brotherhood & planet of the apes had a baby=vj.”
It wasn’t long before ABC canceled the “Roseanne” sitcom revival, saying in a statement the tweet was “abhorrent, repugnant and inconsistent with our values.”
Barr later deleted the tweet and apologized.
“I apologize to Valerie Jarrett and to all Americans,” Barr said in May. “I am truly sorry for making a bad joke about [Jarrett’s] politics and her looks. I should have known better. Forgive me — my joke was in bad taste. I am now leaving Twitter.”
Fast-forward two months, and she’s still apologizing — sort of.
“I made a mistake, obviously,” Barr said on Fox, Mediaite reported. “It cost me everything. My life’s work. Everything. I made a mistake. And I paid the price for it. … No, I didn’t know [Jarrett was black] — like a lot of Americans, including a lot of people of all types, they didn’t know, either.”
And then the apology: “If [Jarrett’s] watching, I’m so sorry that you thought I was racist and that you thought my tweet was racist. Because it wasn’t. It was political. I’m sorry for the misunderstanding that causes, my ill-worded tweet. And, you know I’m sorry that you feel harmed and hurt. I never meant that. And for that I apologize. I never meant to hurt anybody or say anything negative about an entire race of people which I think, 30 years of my work can attest to.”
And then the hair-shaming.
“I mean seriously, she needs a new haircut,” Barr said.
And there you have it, the left’s next cause to criticize. But really, hasn’t this woman apologized enough already?
It’s time to move on — time for a new story. Surely, there are other victims out there besides Valerie Jarrett. Surely, Barr’s apologized enough?
Of course, the hair comment probably isn’t going to help.
