MONACO (AP) - Monaco has signed Russia midfielder Alexander Golovin from CSKA Moscow on a five-year contract.

No financial details were given in a Monaco team statement, but the transfer fee was reportedly around 30 million euros ($35 million).

The 22-year-old Golovin did well at the World Cup, where his creativity and tireless running helped the unfancied host reach the quarterfinals against expectations.

Monaco won the league and reached the Champions League semifinals in 2017, but failed to challenge league champion Paris Saint-Germain last season. Monaco also lost to PSG in the League Cup final.
