MARIETTA, Ga. (AP) - A man has been sentenced to 25 years in prison for pistol-whipping and robbing a U.S. Navy sailor before abandoning him naked on a Georgia road.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports the Cobb County District Attorney’s office announced Friday that Cortlyn Javon Martin is convicted of charges including armed robbery and kidnapping. County District Attorney spokeswoman Kim Isaza says the sailor hung out with Martin in June 2016 while visiting a friend in Marietta.

Isaza says the sailor was driving when Martin began pistol-whipping him. Isaza says Martin abandoned the sailor after forcing him to drive to an ATM, withdraw cash and strip naked. The sailor’s identity hasn’t been released. Martin was arrested about two months after the attack and will be credited for time served.
