Alex Jones, ‘Infowars’ hit with two social media sanctions from YouTube and Facebook in one week

Alex Jones was suspended from Facebook on Friday, two days after the controversial “Infowars” host received another strike from YouTube.

A spokesperson from Facebook confirmed to Mashable reporters that Mr. Jones received a 30-day ban for violating community standards. The radio host will not be able to post on his profile or any pages that he runs as an admin.

“We remove content that violates our standards as soon as we’re aware of it. In this case, we received reports related to four different videos on the Pages that InfoWars and Alex Jones maintain on Facebook,” the spokesperson said.

YouTube hit “Infowars” with yet another strike for violating community standards on Wednesday and removed four videos from the platform. The four videos were then posted on “Infowar’s” website.

Paul Watson, “Infowars” editor-at-large, argued that the videos shouldn’t violate YouTube’s policy because they are presented as news. The channel is no longer allowed to post live broadcasts.
