The Rev. Franklin Graham asked Americans to pray for President Trump during the 2016 presidential election. Now the son of the late Billy Graham is asking for prayers to ensure that Mr. Trump’s nomination of Judge Brett M. Kavanaugh to the Supreme Court takes place.

“If confirmed, Judge Kavanaugh could affect our nation’s laws on everything from abortion to religious freedom right now — and for future generations. It’s critical for God’s people to pray,” the Rev. Graham advises in his candid public outreach.

“Ask God to give the men and women of the Senate Judiciary Committee wisdom and guidance as they meet with Judge Kavanaugh — and to deliver them from opinions that are contrary to His Word. Pray that the Lord will bless Judge Kavanaugh — and his loved ones — with strength, endurance and stamina during this intense process,” the pastor asked his followers.

“Let’s thank God for the opportunity to have a Supreme Court that adheres to Biblical values and pray for a smooth confirmation process,” he said.

Rev. Graham’s request comes just as NTK.com — a news website — reported that the judge’s wife, former George W. Bush White House aide Ashley Kavanaugh, is now under scrutiny from the press.

“The New York Times and Associated Press target Judge Kavanaugh’s wife with records requests,” NTK reported Thursday, citing an analysis which found the news organizations were requesting her email records from the time she served as town manager of Chevy Chase, Maryland — specifically looking for such words as “gay,” “gun” and “abortion.”

NTK based its report on its exclusive access to a report on the email requests obtained from America Rising Squared, a conservative non-profit and research organization which monitors media and policy issues.
