MADISON, Wis. (AP) - Republican congressional candidate Bryan Steil’s (STYLE’S) first television ad emphasizes his ties to manufacturing, showing the corporate attorney wearing safety googles and talking to workers.

Steil is general counsel for Charter NEX Films Inc., an independent producer of polyethylene film used for food and consumer packaging. He previously worked eight years as a corporate attorney at electric motor manufacturer Regal Beloit Corporation.

Steil is running to replace retiring House Speaker Paul Ryan in the southeast Wisconsin district that includes the cities of Janesville, Racine and Kenosha.

In the ad released Tuesday, Steil says “I work in manufacturing solving problems, saving money, shipping products around the world.”

Democrats have criticized Steil for implying his work in manufacturing extends beyond being an attorney.

Iron worker Randy Bryce and teacher Cathy Myers are running in the Democratic primary.
