GREENWOOD, Ind. (AP) - An Indiana teenager who was partially paralyzed in a fall while visiting the French Alps is being medically evacuated home after a fundraiser collected enough money for the special flight.
Eighteen-year-old Alex Kalscheur injured two of his vertebrae and was left partially paralyzed from the waist down when he fell 30 feet from a retaining wall in Grenoble, France, on July 6. The Indianapolis Star reports that he fell while seeking a better view of the star-studded night sky in the Alpine city.
WTHR-TV reports the medical flight Kalscheur needs to get home wasn’t fully covered by insurance so family and friends started a GoFundMe fundraiser that’s raised enough for the flight. A benefit is also planned.
The Indianapolis teen’s flight was expected to leave France on Tuesday for Indianapolis.
