CHEEKTOWAGA, N.Y. (AP) - Poland’s secretary of state and actress Loretta Swit are in western New York for the annual Pulaski Day celebrations.

Secretary of State Anna Maria Anders accepted an invitation to be a guest at Saturday’s gala.

Sunday marks the 80th annual Pulaski Day Parade, which takes place in the Buffalo suburb of Cheektowaga (cheek-toh-WAH-gah).

Swit, best known for her role as Maj. Margaret Houlihan in the television series “M.A.S.H.,” has been a frequent participant in the parade. Poland’s top-ranked boxer, Adam Kownacki, and former World Wrestling Entertainment champion Beth Copeland Phoenix are honorary grand marshals.

Pulaski Day honors Polish-born Casimir Pulaski, a Revolutionary War cavalry officer who helped train and lead American forces.
