The reality is that the face-off between the Iranian people and the ruling regime has entered a new phase following the January 2018 nationwide uprising. The Iranian regime is believing in themselves to change the ruling system and participate in shaping their own future. It can be said with utmost certainty that the people are seeking change not through any change within the ruling establishment nor through a foreign military intervention, but by relying on their own struggle and resistance. Those who raise the specter of Iran becoming another Syria are either inadvertently ignoring the reality of struggle of Iran’s men and women or have specific interests in maintaining the status quo. The result would be prolonging the clerical regime’s hold on power.

On the anniversary of the June 20, 1981, the day of martyrs and political prisoners, we pay homage for all those who made the ultimate sacrifice to sow the seeds of resistance and perseverance. The thought of honoring the Iranian people’s movement in Iran without the rule of the theocracy is magnificent. We, as the Organization of Iranian People’s Fedayeen Guerrillas, a member of the Iranian Resistance, hope that we can hold this gathering in a free, prosperous, and democratic Iran next year. As Mrs. Maryam Rajavi said, victory will come. We are the countless — and will unite and organize to bring about the overthrow of the clerical regime.
