The White House responded to a new storm of criticism about Russian meddling Wednesday by pointing out that the hacking occurred while President Barack Obama was in office.
“This didn’t happen under President Trump’s watch,” said White house press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders, referring to Moscow’s cyber interference in the 2016 presidential election.
Asked why Mr. Trump bashes Mr. Obama instead of Russian President Vladimir Putin for Moscow’s attack on U.S. democracy, Mrs. Sanders replied, “the president has been tougher on Russia than anybody.”
