TRUCKEE, Calif. (AP) - The Latest on a small plane crash near Lake Tahoe (all times local, PDT):

Authorities have identified the 60-year-old pilot from suburban Sacramento who died in a small airplane crash near Lake Tahoe.
The Placer County sheriff says Kenneth Whittall-Scherfee of Carmichael was killed in Tuesday morning’s crash south of Truckee that also claimed the life of one passenger and critically injured another.
The sheriff’s office says Whittall-Scherfee also owned the single-engine plane that went down about 7:40 a.m. along State Route 267 near the Northstar ski resort.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the pilot reported engine trouble shortly after takeoff and was trying to return to the Truckee-Tahoe Airport when the crash occurred.
The names of the two passengers have not been released.

A second person has died from injuries suffered in a small plane crash near Lake Tahoe.
The pilot was declared dead at the scene of the crash Tuesday morning south of Truckee, California.
The two male passengers on board were flown to a Reno hospital with critical injuries. The Placer County sheriff’s office says one of them later died.
Federal Aviation Administration spokesman Ian Gregor says the pilot reported engine trouble shortly after takeoff and was trying to return to the Truckee-Tahoe Airport about 7:40 a.m. when it went down about a mile from the airport near the Northstar ski resort along State Route 267.
Gregor says the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash.

The Federal Aviation Administration says the pilot of a small plane that crashed near Lake Tahoe reported engine trouble before the plane went down south of Truckee, California, killing one and seriously injuring two others.
FAA spokesman Ian Gregor confirmed Tuesday three people were on board the single-engine, Navion-B aircraft.
He says the pilot reported engine problems shortly after takeoff and was trying to return to Truckee-Tahoe Airport at about 7:40 a.m. when it crashed near State Routes 267 and 180 near the Northstar ski resort.
Nick Brown of the Truckee Fire Protection District confirmed one fatality. He says two passengers who suffered critical injuries were flown by a medical helicopter to a Reno hospital.
Gregor says the FAA and the National Transportation Safety Board will investigate the cause of the crash.

Sheriff’s deputies say two people who survived the crash were taken to area hospitals after the single-engine plane went down shortly after takeoff from the Truckee Tahoe Airport near the highway connecting Interstate 80 to Lake Tahoe.
The Sierra Sun reports two male passengers were in critical condition.
The California Highway Patrol says the pilot reported engine trouble shortly after takeoff from the airport about 7:30 a.m.
It wasn’t immediately clear if the pilot was killed or how many people were on the plane.

Emergency crews are responding to a small plane crash near Lake Tahoe.
The California Highway Patrol says a small plane went down Tuesday morning south of Truckee, California near the Northstar ski resort along State Route 267.
It’s not clear how many people were on board of if anyone was hurt.
The patrol says the pilot reported engine trouble shortly after takeoff from the Truckee Tahoe Airport about 8 a.m.
Traffic is backed up on State Route 267 connecting U.S. Interstate I-80 to the north shore of Lake Tahoe at Kings Beach, California.
