The Republican National Committee said it had raised $213 million by mostly small donors at lightning speed.
Chairwoman Ronna Romney McDaniel confirmed this week that RNC coffers are bursting at the seams for the midterm elections, thanks to a wave of small contributions. Passing the $200 million for the election cycle was the fastest ever for the organization.
“What I see when I travel the country is that Americans continue to be enthusiastic about President Trump and the Republican agenda,” she said in a statement. “That enthusiasm has allowed for me to grow our war chest and invest it into what has become the biggest ground game in our party’s history.”
The feat was achieved with 99 percent small donations, the Washington Examiner noted.
“President Trump and Chairman McDaniel have successfully leveraged enthusiasm to attract a brand new contingent of online donors and these new donors aren’t just one time donors — they are more-than-likely to donate multiple times,” the RNC said in a statement. “This is contrary to claims that our initial success with online donors would be short lived as it was just spillover enthusiasm from Trump’s election in November.”
The RNC expects to spend $250 million by the time Americans walk into the voting booth in November.
