ALBANY, N.Y. (AP) - A government watchdog group is calling for an ethics investigation into whether an ex-aide to Gov. Andrew Cuomo misused state resources while leading Cuomo’s 2014 campaign.
Common Cause-New York called for the probe on Monday, a day after The Times-Union of Albany reported that Joe Percoco’s state phone and office were routinely used after he had left his state job.
Percoco was convicted this year on federal bribery and fraud charges. The trial included testimony that Percoco continued to work out of his old state office after he was supposed to have left government to lead Cuomo’s re-election bid.
Common Cause says the recent article demonstrated a “disturbing pattern” of state resources being used for campaign work.
Cuomo has said he didn’t know about any improper use of state resources.
