The U.S. Embassy in London has issued a notice warning Americans to stay aware of their surroundings and keep a low profile as widespread protests are expected to take place during President Trump’s visit this week.
“The majority of the demonstrations will be focused in central London on July 13, with other events planned for July 12 and 14,” the embassy’s notice said. “Several of the events are expected to attract large crowds and there will be road closures in connection with those events.”
Americans in London during that time are advised to stay vigilant, “keep a low profile,” keep an eye on the news, and exercise caution if caught in the middle of a large crowd that may become violent.
Mr. Trump arrives in London Thursday and is only scheduled to stay in the capital for one night at the U.S. ambassador’s official residence in Regent’s Park, Winfield House. On Friday, he will meet Prime Minister Theresa May at her Chequers country retreat in Buckinghamshire, then visit with Queen Elizabeth at Windsor Castle before heading to Scotland for the weekend.
The president will travel mostly by helicopter and will likely miss the London protests, including a giant “Trump Baby” balloon that will fly above Parliament.
