DAYTONA BEACH, Fla. (AP) — Brantley Bell hit a run-scoring single in the eighth inning to give the Daytona Tortugas an 8-7 win over the Florida Fire Frogs on Tuesday.
Michael Beltre scored on the play after he hit an RBI single, advanced to second on a single by Bruce Yari and then went to third on a walk by Randy Ventura.
The single by Bell capped a six-run inning for the Tortugas that started when Mauricio Cabrera threw a wild pitch, scoring Taylor Trammell to cut the Florida lead to 7-3.
Beltre doubled and singled twice, driving home two runs in the win.
Michael Byrne (1-0) got the win in relief while Brandon S. White (1-1) took the loss in the Florida State League game. Ryan Hendrix retired the side in order for his seventh save of the season.
Cristian Pache homered and tripled, driving in two runs for the Fire Frogs.
