BARNSTABLE, Mass. (AP) - A Massachusetts woman has pleaded not guilty to charges in connection with a fatal hit-and-run.

The Cape Cod Times reports that 33-year-old Sarah Hunt, of Barnstable, pleaded not guilty Monday to motor vehicle homicide, leaving the scene of a death and an open container violation.

Hunt turned herself in Saturday after police asked for the public’s help in finding the driver involved in a crash Friday that killed 62-year-old John Pina.

Police say Pina was hit as he attempted to cross Route 28. They say Hunt stopped, then got back in her vehicle and drove away.

Pina’s family said after the arraignment Monday they feel it would be difficult for Hunt to live with what she did.

Hunt was released on $2,500 bail. She and her lawyer refused comment.
