NASHVILLE, Tenn. (AP) - The president of The Tennessean and the USA Today Network-Tennessee is leaving parent company Gannett.

The Tennessean reports longtime media executive Laura Hollingsworth announced the decision on Monday in a newsroom address to all newspaper employees. She said her last day with the company will be Feb. 2.

She said she would continue to live in Nashville, but wanted to explore other opportunities and new ways to make an impact.

The newspaper says during Hollingsworth tenure, the Tennessean renewed its emphasis on music coverage, expanded its health care coverage, increased its community engagement, and grew its digital audience.

Over the last 18 months, she has led the integration of the Commercial Appeal and the Knoxville News Sentinel into a statewide Gannett network.
