ASPEN, Colo. (AP) - Professional cyclist Tejay van Garderen says he is leaving Colorado to move to Spain.

The Aspen Times reported Friday that van Garderen and his wife and former professional cyclist Jessica Phillips are moving to Girona in northeast Spain.

The couple has lived in Aspen on and off since 2011 and say they have enjoyed the town immensely.

Although Phillips grew up in Aspen, van Garderen says it was her suggestion to move to Spain.

Since most of van Garderen’s races are in Europe, the cyclist says the move will be better for his wife and their two daughters since it eliminates some travelling.
