ATLANTA (AP) - Officials say a 63-year-old man died in a house fire in Georgia.

The Atlanta Journal-Constitution reports that Alexander M. Carmean died in the house fire in southern Monroe County on Sunday morning.

Monroe County fire spokesman Sgt. Lawson Bittick says the house was engulfed in flames when firefighters arrived, and that Carmean was found dead inside.

The fire remains under investigation. Carmean’s body was sent to the Georgia Bureau of Investigation Crime Lab in Atlanta.
