GILLETTE, Wyo. (AP) - While a man was sentenced to 45 years in prison for producing pornography of a young girl, the girl’s mother is accused of sexual abuse of a minor and of knowing her child was being abused and doing nothing about it.
The Gillette News Record reports Charles Mathisen, who has been convicted four times of sex crimes in Wyoming, was sentenced last month. The U.S. Attorney’s Office says if Mathisen is paroled despite his age and sentence, he would be placed on a lifetime of supervised release.
The woman has been charged with second-degree sexual abuse of a minor, a felony. She also is charged with five counts of child endangerment, all misdemeanors.
An affidavit of probable cause says the child had been placed in foster care.
