Georgetown’s 90-66 loss to Creighton Saturday afternoon often resembled a track meet, the Bluejays outrunning and outgunning the Hoyas in a fast-paced and lopsided affair at Capital One Arena.

The Hoyas defense had no answer for the Bluejays as Creighton shot nearly 50 percent from the field, blitzing the Hoyas from distance with 16 threes.

Creighton never trailed in the game, jumping out to a quick 12-3 advantage within a matter of minutes. The Bluejays hit four of their first five field goal attempts, all from beyond the arc.

The Bluejays continued to dictate the tempo throughout the first half, shooting 49 percent from the field while holding the Hoyas to 30 percent shooting and forcing nine Georgetown turnovers.

At the halftime horn, Creighton led 45-27, doing the majority of its damage from long distance, drilling 10 first half three-pointers.

Georgetown’s two leading scorers coming into the contest, center Jesse Govan and forward Marcus Derrickson, had combined for just seven points, the Hoyas recording more turnovers than made field goals in the opening 20 minutes.

While the Hoyas’ offensive efficiency improved in the second half, Georgetown shooting 42 percent from the field in the final 20 minutes, Creighton continued to score at will. The Bluejays’ lead never dropped into single-digits, Creighton closing out the 90-66 blowout without much fuss.

Four Bluejays finished in double figures, forward Toby Hegner leading all scorers with 19. Jagan Mosely paced the Hoyas with 11 points off the bench.

With the loss, Georgetown fell to 1-3 in Big East play and 11-4 on the season. Creighton’s record improved to 12-3, Saturday’s victory its third win in four conference games.
