Former White House press secretary Sean Spicer said Thursday he regretted making comments on the size of the inauguration.

“The inauguration. You brought it up. I would say that’s first and foremost. There was an event where I was trying to talk about how evil [Bashar] Assad was, and I screwed that up royally,” Mr. Spicer said on HLN.

Mr. Spicer used one of his first briefings to combat reports that President Trump had a lower attendance than former President Barack Obama and among the lowest attended ever.

The former White House press secretary said that Mr. Trump had “the largest audience to ever witness an inauguration, period.”
