Senate Majority Whip John Cornyn said Friday that setting a policy agenda with the hopes of bipartisanship will be one of the top issues discussed at the meeting this weekend with President Trump at Camp David.

“I think there are clearly some areas where we can work together. I heard a discussion of infrastructure, which I suspect will be one of the items front and center at Camp David,” Mr. Cornyn, Texas Republican, said on Fox News.

Mr. Cornyn, along with Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, House Speaker Paul D. Ryan and House Majority Leader Kevin McCarthy, will also discuss the upcoming 2018 midterms with Mr. Trump.

“I think we’ve got a good record to run on in 2018,” Mr. Cornyn said, listing off the GOP’s accomplishments in 2017, including judicial appointments and tax reform.

The first major item on the docket in the new year is likely immigration reform. A pending March 1 deadline for DACA recipients — those brought to the U.S. illegally as children — is a top priority for Democrats. But Republicans say that won’t come without immigration reform.

“There is a deal to be had here, but what we need is to restore a legal immigration system and enforcement,” Mr. Cornyn said, referring to the Deferred Action for Childhood Arrivals program.

With an even more narrow majority in the Senate now after losing Alabama, Republicans hope Democrats are open to working together, he said.

“There is no way of getting things done this year without bipartisan support,” Mr. Cornyn said.
