PROVIDENCE, R.I. (AP) - The Rhode Island Senate has approved Democratic Gov. Gina Raimondo’s nominee to lead the state Department of Revenue.

The Providence Journal reports the Senate voted unanimously Tuesday to approve Mark Furcolo as director of the department. He will oversee the department’s four state divisions: Lottery, Motor Vehicles, Municipal Finance and Taxation, as well as the Office of Revenue Analysis.

Raimondo appointed Furcolo to head up the department in October. Furcolo is the fifth director to hold the position since Raimondo took office in 2015.

Furcolo most recently worked as a senior vice president at Dealertrack Technologies, a software provider for the auto industry. Raimondo has described Furcolo as an “accomplished business and finance professional.”
