LOS ANGELES (AP) - The Los Angeles Football Club has teamed with YouTube TV to air the new MLS team’s English-language matches on local television.
YouTube TV will also carry all nationally televised matches on ESPN, Fox and FS1 as part of the multi-year deal announced Wednesday. The team’s jersey will prominently feature a YouTube TV logo.
LAFC has a league-high 16 matches that will be broadcast nationally on ESPN, Fox, FS1 and Univision this season. Still to be announced is a local over-the-air Spanish-language broadcast outlet as well as deals with both English- and Spanish-language radio stations.
The deal is a first in North American professional sports where all locally televised matches are on a live TV streaming provider.
YouTube TV launched last April as a cable-free live TV service airing local sports and news. It costs $35 a month and is currently available in over 80 metro areas.
