MANDAN, N.D. (AP) - Five workers at North Dakota’s Youth Correctional Center outside of Mandan received medical attention after being assaulted by a number of juveniles over the weekend, but they weren’t seriously injured.

State Corrections Department spokeswoman Michelle Linster says “several” juveniles were involved in the assault at the facility Sunday night. She declined to comment on the nature of the incident, including whether the workers were targeted or were assaulted when intervening in some sort of situation.

Linster says the workers were all male and all worked in supervisory or security roles. She says none are missing any work time due to the incident.

The Highway Patrol is investigating because it happened on state property.

This story has been corrected to show that the workers were not necessarily taken to a medical center.
