CHEYENNE, Wyo. (AP) - A coalition of organizations in a southeastern Wyoming county is building a shelter to house up to 10 homeless teenagers and young adults.

The Wyoming Tribune Eagle reports the Laramie County Community Partnership’s Strong Families Action Team held a groundbreaking Monday for a twin home project in Cheyenne.

Officials say the $620,000 house will have two sides, each with bedrooms for five students and their supervising house parents. The home will also have shared bathrooms, storage rooms and family rooms.

Officials say the project will provide homes for 16- to 20-year-old students in Laramie County School District 1. Officials expect the house to open by the fall.

Team co-chair Stacy Strasser says the coalition hopes to build more youth homes in areas of the district when more resources become available.
