CASPER, Wyo. (AP) - The Environmental Protection Agency has partially removed a federal Superfund site in Wyoming off its national priorities list after soil and groundwater cleanup actions were completed.

Agency officials say the partial deletion of the Mystery Bridge/U.S. Highway 20 Superfund site in Evansville was proposed in June, and it was taken off the list in late August.

The site that overlaps with a neighborhood between Highway 20 and the North Platte River was designated as a Superfund site about 30 years ago after extensive soil and groundwater contamination was discovered.

Officials say years of industrial operations at a facility owned by Kinder Morgan caused the contamination.

Officials say the agency isn’t abandoning the site, but will continue to monitor it every five years. An underground toxin plume remains on the list.
