BALTIMORE (AP) - The Baltimore Teachers Union says the city should close schools until heating problems can be addressed amid a cold snap.
The union delivered a letter on Wednesday to schools CEO Sonja Santelises.
Union President Marietta English urged her to “close schools in the District until your facilities crew has had time to properly asses and fix the heating issues within the affected schools in Baltimore City.”
The city closed four schools on Wednesday. Students were dismissed early from two other schools with heating problems.
English wrote that cold conditions existed in other schools.
Several schools also were shuttered due to the cold on Tuesday, which was the first day back from winter break.
