RENO, Nev. (AP) - Reno police have an armed robbery suspect in custody after a standoff briefly closed an interstate off-ramp on the south end of town.

Police say they arrested 26-year-old Anthony Anderson of Reno about an hour after the standoff began about 9:15 a.m. Monday in the area around Redfield Parkway and Kietzke Lane near Interstate 580.

Police said Anderson pointed a gun at victims who confronted him about possibly stealing products from a nearby Wal-Mart.

Officers called to the scene said they began negotiating with Anderson but he was uncooperative so they distracted him with non-lethal munitions and used a police dog to apprehend him.

He was treated for minor injuries and booked into the county jail on suspicion of robbery with a deadly weapon, obstruction and resisting arrest. It’s not clear if he has a lawyer.
