Former Clinton campaign manager Patti Solis Doyle said Monday that she was “disappointed” by Hillary Clinton’s response to the report that her former staffer experienced sexual harassment while working on her 2008 campaign.
“I was disappointed by that tweet, that response. It was the wrong call. I wish she had said it was the wrong call,” Ms. Doyle said on CNN.
The New York Times reported Friday that Mrs. Clinton requested that a staff member who had reportedly harassed a young female aide be kept on the campaign. The young woman was reassigned while the alleged harasser, Burns Strider, former spiritual adviser to Mrs. Clinton, continued to work on the campaign, despite Ms. Doyle’s recommendation to terminate him.
When asked if Mrs. Clinton overruled her personally, Ms. Doyle responded, “I was overruled, yes.”
Mrs. Clinton reacted to the report in a pair of tweets late Friday. She said she “heartened” the young woman had come forward, but did not say she regretted her actions.
A story appeared today about something that happened in 2008. I was dismayed when it occurred, but was heartened the young woman came forward, was heard, and had her concerns taken seriously and addressed.

I called her today to tell her how proud I am of her and to make sure she knows what all women should: we deserve to be heard.
