HOUSTON (AP) - Corey Davis Jr. scored 17 points and made 4 of 5 3-pointers and Fabian White Jr. had a double-double and Houston beat struggling South Florida 63-40 on Sunday.
White scored 16 points and grabbed 11 rebounds, and he and Davis combined for 13-of-19 shooting.
The Bulls made just 15 field goals and missed 14 of 23 free throws. Houston (16-4, 6-2 American) dominated inside with a 46-31 rebounding advantage.
South Florida (8-14, 1-8) proved competitive early and trailed just 19-17 after Payton Banks made a free throw at the 4:26 mark before going scoreless the rest of the first half. The Cougars went on a 14-0 run as Davis scored eight and White scored six. The Bulls missed four 3-point attempts, a free throw and turned it over twice.
Breaon Brady scored seven of Houston’s first 10 points after halftime and the Cougars led 43-22 with 14:42 left.
Banks and Stephan Jiggetts each scored 10 for the Bulls. South Florida now has lost eight of its last nine.
