ASHEVILLE, N.C. (AP) - Ahmad Thomas scored 23 points, MaCio Teague added 21 more and UNC Asheville held off a High Point rally Saturday to get an 84-77 win and move into a tie for first place atop the Big South Conference.

Thomas was 11 for 15 from the field and Teague got 11 of his points from the foul line, missing just three of his free throws. Raekwon Miller had 17 points and Kevin Vannatta scored 10 to go with six assists for Asheville (14-9, 7-3), which shot 50 percent from the field.

High Point (10-11, 5-5) trailed by as much as 19 late in the opening half but rallied after the break, getting a 3-pointer from Andre Fox with 13 seconds remaining to cut the deficit to 81-77. It was as close as the Panthers got as Asheville protected its lead from the free-throw line the rest of the way.

Fox finished with 18 points, with 12 of those coming from long range, to lead five High Point players in double figures.
