WORCESTER, Mass. (AP) - Students at Worcester State University say they’ll hold a forum on diversity issues after officials say a poster was defaced with a racial slur against African-Americans.
Worcester State sophomore Manasseh Konadu tells The Boston Globe Saturday that the forum will be part of an effort by students, administrators and faculty to support diversity and inclusion at the university. No date has been set for it.
Officials say in a statement Friday that on Jan. 18 a poster calling for students to be “something bigger than yourself” was defaced. They say the word “bigger” was changed into a “repugnant racial slur.” It was found inside a residence hall.
School President Barry M. Maloney is urging the university community to push back against hate.
Campus police are investigating.
