CHARLESTON, W.Va. (AP) - A West Virginia woman has died after being hit by a train.

The Charleston Gazette-Mail reports police identified the woman killed Friday afternoon as 55-year-old Leoda Harris of Charleston.

Emergency responders found Harris lying near the railroad tracks near the eastern edge of Charleston’s city limits. Police said in a news release that Harris was pronounced dead at the scene.

An emergency dispatcher said CSX Corp. reported the incident to authorities at about 1:20 p.m.
