SALT LAKE CITY (AP) - A Salt Lake City-based medical group is planning to transfer nearly 2,300 employees to another company - a move that officials say is expected to save them $70 million over the next three years.

The Salt Lake Tribune reports the Intermountain Healthcare employees who handle patient claims and payments will be employed by R1 RCM, a company that handles revenue cycle management for hospitals.

Intermountain Chief Operating Officer Robert Allen says the transferred employees’ pay and health insurance benefits will stay the same. The move is scheduled for early April.

Allen says the Chicago-based company is looking to open a regional hub for its operations, potentially bringing hundreds of new jobs to the state.
